DESTILLIERMEISTER E2-55 Premium Plus All Inclusive - Top Model 2023

Legal and registration-free stainless steel still optimized for the distillation of essential oils with a large capacity for flowers and leaves

The worry-free package includes:

  • The distiller, 1st to 11th
  • 12. An accessory set with a powerful pump, a hose set with different hose thicknesses for cooling water supply and other uses with other useful accessories
  • For collecting and separating:  13. an oil separator.
  • To assess the hydrosol quality: 15. Pack of 100 pH measuring sticks, pH 3.6 to 6.1.
  • To get you started straight away: 14. 500 g of distiller-grade blue lavender flowers in an aroma and light protection bag. This means you have at least an initial filling for the plant tube. The packaging is equipped with an aroma protection seal so that leftovers can be stored well protected. This gives you an idea of what your harvest should produce. Of course, this only applies to dried lavender flowers. Pay attention to the right harvest time; this is important for productivity. I go into this in the online short manual.

30 ml Essential Oil in 16 Minutes

The report-free DESTILLIERMEISTER E2 - 55 Premium Plus Model 2023 has been revised again. The stand is now manufactured in such a way that the kettle can be removed from the system to refill it with plants or water and the cooling system with riser pipe and lid remains standing. Working will therefore become faster and therefore more economical. The next distillation can start within a few minutes.

Everything else had already been improved in the 2022 model. The pre-condenser for the pressure loss-free transition to liquefy the steam into the cooler has been designed to be longer and bent. The distillate cooler is now designed in a winding shape instead of the bulky Liebig cooler and is still longer. This means that the entire system is significantly more compact and the cooling water consumption has been significantly reduced thanks to the overall longer cooling length. The kettle has the legally permitted bubble size of 2 liters, but the plant tube has a total volume of a whopping 5.5 liters. This makes it probably one of the largest legal and registration-free distilleries for essential oils. The riser pipe of the Premium model is insulated to minimize drip losses. This means that the premium model is optimized for the extraction of essential oils and hydrosols.
The steam is liquefied in the pre-condenser, so that the cross-sectional reduction occurs when it passes into the final cooler without any pressure loss. Note: Pressure losses in the piping system act as a pressure increase in the plant pipe, so the steam has to work against a pressure mountain. This leads to hydrosol and oil dripping back, which leads to significant losses. This also increases the temperature in the plant tube because the boiling point increases. This damages the essential oils and reduces their quality.

In our own experiments, we used this still to extract 30 ml of essential oil from dried lavender flowers in 16 minutes. In addition, we received a liter of excellent lavender hydrosol. We were surprised by the effectiveness of this still. Obviously, the optimal ratio of plant tube height to plant tube diameter has had a positive effect on efficiency. So if you want to produce essential oils and hydrosols effectively without customs formalities, the DESTILLIERMEISTER E2-55 Premium Plus Model 23 is the perfect choice.

For the vast majority of plants and flowers, the water supply is sufficient for a complete distillation. However, if the removal of one liter of hydrosol is not enough, which we do, for example. As you have discovered, for example, when distilling fennel seeds, there is a water refill nozzle attached to the boiler. Here you can compensate for the amount of hydrosol removed with the corresponding amount of water without dismantling the system. This saves significant time at work.
The insulated riser pipe already reduces drip losses. The drip losses can be further reduced by also insulating the plant pipe, e.g. B. with a blanket. This means that a higher oil yield can be expected.

With 5.5 liters of plant space, they have plenty of volume to process larger quantities of plants or drugs. By raising the aroma basket you can also experiment with smaller quantities, but you should then work with reduced heating power so that the steam does not simply flow through the plant material without any effect. The steam is generated in an extra boiler under the plant container, so that contact with boiling water can be ruled out.
The best thing is: Since the kettle only has a volume of 2 liters despite the large plant container, the DESTILLIERMEISTER E2 - 55 Premium Plus Model 2023 is also legal in Germany and Austria and can be sold and operated without reporting to customs.

Easy Handling:

  • Pour 1.9 liters of water into the water/steam boiler, either demineralized or distilled water, or tap water if after a few distillations the limescale is removed from the bottom of the boiler with heated lemon or acetic acid.
  • Place the lid with the plant tube and close it with tension locks,
  • Insert the aroma basket, when fully occupied without the adjustable legs, for smaller quantities with the legs and the basket raised.
  • Fill with up to 5.5 liters of herbs or drugs - do not compress crushed herbs,
  • Insert seal,
  • Put on the cover 3. and tighten the tension locks 2.5,
  • Screw the insulated riser pipe on to 3.1.
  • First insert the stand rod for the pre-condenser. Then screw on the pre-condenser so that the pipe runs some distance behind the riser. This should automatically be correct if you follow the markings provided. The boiler with the pre-condenser should stand now stable.
  • At the second-cooler, first insert the stand tubes. Then screw on the end cooler. The cooling pipes should now have slopes everywhere.
  • Screw the cooling water hoses to the pre-condenser (see pictures). The cooling water access has a 1/2" thread and the outlet on the pre-condenser has a 3/4". The cooling water always flows in countercurrent to the distillate flow from bottom to top.
  • Switch on the heat source and collect the hydrosol with oil at 6.5. The included distillate hose 10 has a socket and is plugged onto the end 6.5. The distillate hose is shortened so that it just reaches into the collection container (template) used. Under no circumstances should the hose be immersed in the distillate; it must be able to flow freely.
  • When the plant tube is full, distill for a maximum of 30 minutes at high power (induction plate 2000 or 3000 watts) for most plants. For small quantities of plants and the aroma basket raised, 1200 to 1500 watts. It is best to first collect 2 margins of 500 ml each in a sterile bottle. If the pH value of the 2nd margin does not differ significantly from the 1st margin and is below 6, additional stomachs can be removed. Beforehand, however, the amount of hydrosol removed should be refilled with water via the refill neck 2.3.
Water/steam tank and plant/drug pipe, as well as all pipelines carrying distillate are made of high-quality stainless steel.

  8. Stand tubes to support and stabilize the distillation system. The numbering is chosen in ascending order in the direction of flow. Take marker markings into account during the first setup. The markings for the position of the cross sleeves on the stand tubes apply to flat construction. Depending on the height of the heating source used, the positions shift upwards by this amount (the numbering on the stand tubes is at the top).

    1. Long pipe to support the pre-condenser, shown here with the cross sockets.

    2. See 6., back.

    3. See 6., front.

  9. Cross sleeves for connecting the supports with the pre-condenser 5. and the final cooler 6. When delivered, the cross sleeves on the coolers are optimally positioned.

      1. Above

      2. Below

    2. Sleeve for attaching the end cooler to position 2.

    3. See 9.2

  10. Attach the distillate hose and shorten it if necessary, as described above. You can unscrew the hose and screw on a water hose with a 1/2" thread to clean the piping systems.

  11. Aroma basket to be placed in the steam pipe. This has a minimum distance of around 3 cm from the ground and can be adjusted upwards for smaller quantities. It has a closed storage area in the middle, so that in the lower position the rising steam jet does not flow directly through the crop and blows a tunnel due to the jet effect, which would lead to heavy losses. The steam initially flows radially because of the storage area and then rises due to its own thermals. The plant tube has a height/diameter ratio greater than 1, so that an effective chimney effect promotes the dragging effect.

  12. Set for cooling water supply with the following accessories

    1. 20 liter plastic bucket as a cooling water reservoir.

    2. Powerful 230 volt cooling water pump with accessories for different hose diameters, sufficient for all of our stainless steel stills up to around 20 liters.

    3. Various PVC hoses of 2m each, including 2 hoses with hose screw connections for the still cooler, one of which is prepared for connection to the pump. In addition, 3 hoses of different strengths for different applications, e.g. E.g. hose extension or decanting of hydrosols etc.

    4. Plastic tap for cooling water control, suitable for the counterflow cooler.

    5. Scaled 100 ml measuring cylinder with foot for taking distillate samples, e.g. B. to measure the pH value.

    6. Cleaning brush.

    7. Floating thermometer to check the cooling water if you let the hot waste water run back into the bucket. From 40°C the water should either be cooled with ice or replaced.

    8. A roll of Teflon tape for sealing, e.g. if a seal breaks during distillation.

  13. Oil separator device consisting of the following components

    1. The separating funnel. This catches the hydrosol first.

    2. PTFE chick. In the picture this is switched to maximum transmission. Turned 90° it closes completely. It is closed at the start of distillation. Once you have collected about 60 to 70 ml, open it slowly and let the hydrosol drain away. It is optimal if the hydrosol flows into the collecting flask as quickly as it flows into the separating funnel. The oil collects on the hydrosol surface in the separatory funnel.

    3. Stopper for the receiving flask with feedthrough.

    4. Receiving flask (Erlenmeyer flask). You should definitely distill 500 ml; The non-water-soluble essential oil is now almost completely distilled off. If you want to continue collecting hydrosol, you should briefly switch off the heating source, decant the hydrosol or place a new flask underneath it. Don't forget to close the chick 9.2 during this action.

    5. Sealing plug, suitable for separating funnels and Erlenmeyer flasks. This is not needed during distillation.
